Instructor Policies

  • Only IEW® Accredited Instructors are allowed to make use of the trademarked name “Institute for Excellence in Writing” and the trademarked terms “IEW®” and “Structure and Style®” writing method in advertising their classes. By restricting the use of these trademarked terms, IEW can better ensure the integrity of its method and assist parents in finding a formally trained writing teacher.

  • IEW endorses an Accredited Instructor's ability to teach the Structure and Style writing method to students in grade 3 through adults. An Accredited Instructor may not train adults, parents, fellow teachers, or administrators for the purpose of their teaching the Structure and Style method of writing. The role of Master Teacher belongs solely to Mr. Andrew Pudewa and to several Accomplished Level instructors.

  • No rebroadcasting of any digital or video or audio files, including the video-based courses Teaching Writing: Structure and Style, Structure and Style for Students, Introduction to Public Speaking, Student Writing Intensive, Student Writing Intensive Continuation Course, or theme-based lessons containing Institute for Excellence in Writing, L.L.C. lessons or other copyrighted materials, may be transmitted over the Internet or social media, e.g., Google Classroom, FaceTime, iMessage, Skype, Google Hangout, Zoom, or any other online tutoring platform.

We are grateful to instructors for respecting IEW’s proprietary rights.

Please Note
IEW evaluates the competency of its Accredited Instructors in terms of their individual mastery of IEW's teaching methodology. IEW guarantees only its own intellectual property and methodology for teaching writing with Structure and Style. IEW makes no warranty, expressed or implied, regarding the individual Accredited Instructor's personality, moral character, work history, legal history, or credit history.
