IEW Tools for the Journey: IEW Online Classes

Oct 31, 2024 | Posted by the IEW Blog Team

As part of IEW’s continued commitment to providing parents and teachers with help for the journey of training students to be confident and competent communicators and thinkers, we are presenting a series of blog posts highlighting tools we offer to that end. In the first of several installments, we have looked at the various newsletters and webinars available from IEW, our social media accounts, our blog, our podcast, our Magnum Opus Magazine, and our learning differences page. This is the eighth installment of that series: IEW Online classes.

After receiving many requests, IEW started offering online classes in 2011. Now over 750 students in grades 4-12 login to IEW Online classes each week. It is the highest level of support that we offer. They are taught by IEW Certified Instructors who have been carefully vetted and trained. The course curriculum is Structure and Style® for Students and Fix It!® Grammar. Over the course of two fifteen-week semesters, students attend live weekly classes, where they receive in-depth instruction, review the lesson, and ask questions. As they complete weekly assignments, they receive personalized feedback from their instructor. Through their interactions during the live class as well as the internal messaging system, students build a rapport with each other and their instructor. IEW Online classes continue to grow while maintaining their high quality.

If you are interested in this level of support for the 2025-2026 school year, visit the IEW Online Class page on our website. There you will find the academic calendar, class schedule, requirements, instructor list, FAQ page, and registration instructions. Registration for classes starting Fall 2025 begins at 10:00 AM CT on Tuesday, April 1, 2025. Classes fill quickly! The best way to stay informed about IEW Online classes, including registration dates, is to sign up for our Online Class Interest List.

Due to the rigorous nature of the IEW Online classes, they are not set up to meet the needs of English language learners or students with learning differences. However, as discussed in the previous post , IEW methodology is highly effective for these students. Students with learning differences are often best served in a class where instruction can be personalized or with a tutor one-on-one. To find an instructor who offers classes or tutoring in your area, visit the Find an Instructor page of our website.

In pursuit of our mission, IEW Online classes are one of the tools that we offer to support parents. Over the past thirteen years, thousands of students who have attended our online classes have reaped the rewards of being skilled writers and thinkers. In the coming weeks, we will present the final two tools in our toolbox of support for the journey.
