As part of IEW’s continued commitment to providing parents and teachers with help for the journey of training students to be confident and competent communicators and thinkers, we are presenting a series of blog posts highlighting free tools we offer to that end. In the first three installments, we looked at the various newsletters and webinars available from IEW as well as our social media accounts. This is the fourth installment of that series: IEW’s blog.
The IEW blog is written by a team of writers and editors who come to IEW from a variety of backgrounds. Together we bring you weekly posts about a wide variety of topics. Classroom teachers, homeschool parents, co-op teachers, tutors, and anyone else who is involved in the life of a student will find valuable information, encouragement, and inspiration here. There are tips and tricks for teaching each unit of structure and different stylistic techniques, special help for teaching students with learning differences, and general motivation to stay the course. Each member of our blog team is dedicated to sharing her experience with IEW methodology to assist you on your journey.
Allow me to share with you some of our most popular blog posts about common questions and concerns. At the beginning of the school year, “Using Structure and Style across the Curriculum,” “How to Progress: Structure and Style for Students,” and “Customer Service Answers: How do I teach Structure and Style to multiple ages?” are great ones to review. In the first weeks of school, “Celebrate the Checklist,” “Take it EZ+1,” and “Edit with a Smile” will keep you on track. When it starts to feel like a slog, “It’s a Marathon, Not a Sprint” and “Crushing Comparison” will pick you up. If your student is struggling, “Hope for Your Struggling Learner” and “Better Late Than Early” will give you insight. When you need a change of pace, “Incorporating Poetry into Your Lessons” and “Reading with Unhurried Delight” will jumpstart your creativity. As you can see, the IEW blog has a wealth of information and ideas to address the obstacles and challenges you may encounter on the journey.
