Getting Started with Structure and Style for Students

Dec 27, 2023 | Posted by the IEW Blog Team

On Day 2 of IEW’s Twelve Days of Christmas Giving, we spotlight getting started with writing using IEW’s video courses. IEW’s mission is to equip teachers and teaching parents with methods and materials that will aid them in training their students to become confident and competent communicators and thinkers. Be sure you are registered for the event to receive the email with links to the gifts and the free shipping code.

Day 2 highlights IEW’s two flagship writing courses, created to prepare both instructors and students to accomplish that mission. The first of today’s gifts is the Structure and Style Overview video, a two-hour introduction to the Teaching Writing: Structure and Style (TWSS) seminar. In the overview Andrew Pudewa briefly describes the nine structural models, introduces the stylistic techniques, and shares time-tested tips that promote and strengthen success for even your most reluctant writers. A twenty-two-page download is included with the video overview.

Next up is an introduction to the student writing video courses Structure and Style for Students (SSS). Like the instructor seminar, these are taught by Andrew Pudewa using the Structure and Style writing method. The SSS curriculum provides clear daily assignments and includes vocabulary words, literature suggestions, and lesson plans. Would you like an opportunity to take a closer look at the lessons or try them with your students? Day Two gifts include the first three weeks’ video lessons and downloadable teacher and student handouts for year 1 at the level of your choice.

Another Day Two gift is the new Get Started with IEW video to help you launch your writing journey. Finally, if you are new to homeschooling or are contemplating it for your family, we invite you to listen to IEW’s Arts of Language podcast “You CAN Homeschool” (Episode 365). Andrew Pudewa and Julie Walker discuss a variety of questions that parents who are considering homeschooling frequently ask and explore the benefits of the three Cs of home education: culture, curriculum, and care.
