IEW Tools for the Journey: Magnum Opus Magazine

Sep 26, 2024 | Posted by the IEW Blog Team

As part of IEW’s continued commitment to providing parents and teachers with help for the journey of training students to be confident and competent communicators and thinkers, we are presenting a series of blog posts highlighting free tools we offer to that end. In the first of several installments, we have looked at the various newsletters and webinars available from IEW, our social media accounts, our blog, and our podcast. This is the sixth installment of that series: our Magnum Opus Magazine.

Magnum opus is Latin for “great work.” Magnum Opus Magazine is a curated collection of exemplary student writing that represents IEW’s nine structural units. Every month Lizabeth Brasells, the editor, combs through many submissions and selects the best ones to be published in the monthly digital newsletter. Once a year she chooses compositions to be published in the print edition. The resulting collection of great works delights students, parents, and teachers alike.

There are many benefits of this publication. First, it inspires and motivates students to work hard on their compositions. Having their work published brings a deep feeling of accomplishment. The magazine also provides teachers, teaching parents, and students with a collection of high-quality writing samples. Finally, for the students and their teachers, there is joy and celebration in seeing the fruit of their hard work in the form of published writing.

Everyone should subscribe to Magnum Opus Magazine! You can do that quickly and easily here. Students who would like to submit their writing for consideration should go here to read the submission guidelines and process. Magnum Opus Magazine is a great work and demonstrates that IEW’s methodology creates competent and confident communications and thinkers. Stay tuned for part seven of this series!
