On Day 3 of Twelve Days of Christmas Giving, IEW is giving you a three-week sample from Writing Across the Curriculum. Be sure you are registered for the event to receive the email with links to the gifts.
Christmas can be a time of traditions but also a time of trying new things. Have you used our video courses but wonder what it would be like to teach your students yourself? Now is the perfect time to download this gift and try something new!
Perhaps you have a reluctant writer. Fix yourself a mug of hot cocoa and a plate of Christmas cookies to enjoy your first gift while you watch Andrew Pudewa address Reaching the Reluctant Writer in this free video talk. IEW’s methods have proven successful for students who do not love to write. Offering fascinating topics to write about will help.
The next gift is a new video featuring teachers and administrators from Hillsdale College K-12 Education and Hillsdale Academy. IEW’s partnership with Hillsdale College K-12 Education program offers a series of courses that integrate Writing Across the Curriculum. Each course includes intriguing topics across different subject areas that will spark your students’ interest. Starting with Adventures in Writing, elementary students progress systematically through the series, building skills incrementally.
Additionally, today’s gifts include the first three lessons from three of IEW’s Writing Across the Curriculum courses: Adventures in Writing, Discoveries in Writing, and Frontiers in Writing. These books provide a full year of ready-made lesson plans to support you in teaching the Structure and Style® method of writing to your students in the context of history, literature, science, and more. To make this easy, each course includes source texts, checklists, and assignments as well as detailed written instructions for you and your student. Give them a try!
Since they do not include a student video component, these lessons presume that the instructor has been through or is currently viewing the Teaching Writing: Structure and Style seminar and is prepared to directly teach the material to the students. Watch the Structure and Style Overview for a preview of that seminar.
P.S. Don’t forget to use the code for free standard domestic shipping on any online order from December 26–January 6.
