Thoughts on Dyslexia

Recently we held a webinar that focused on dyslexia, the most common learning disability in the United States. During the presentation Andrew Pudewa shared some basic information on what dyslexia actually is (hint, it’s not simply reversing letters) and described more about the condition and how to appropriately address it.

A simplified definition of dyslexia is “difficulty with reading.” Andrew applies this definition to three areas of potential causes: instructional issues, visual challenges, and auditory difficulties. He then goes on to describe ways that dyslexia can be successfully treated through time-tested educational approaches.

If you have a student who you suspect may be dyslexic, listen in to the recording of this thoughtful and engaging webinar. It will encourage you and provide you direction for meeting your student’s needs, both in the classroom and out of it. Don’t despair. With appropriate support and intervention, your student can learn not only to read, but to excel. This webinar will help you to tackle the challenge with confidence.
