Cultivating Language Arts in the Classroom
Listening and reading well, speaking and writing clearly, thinking and debating effectively are abilities that most teachers hope to cultivate in their students. With that goal in mind, Andrew will explore various environments and activities that can be used by classroom teachers which will accelerate the development of these language skills, beginning with the youngest students and continuing into the high school years.

Teaching Structure and Style in the Classroom
After learning IEW’s methodology through the Teaching Writing: Structure and Style course, teachers have four options for implementing the method with their students. Teachers may create their own lessons, use a theme-based book, use video in the classroom (live), or live-teach the Structure and Style for Students (SSS) course.

This workshop will explore the benefits for teachers, using the SSS as an in-depth tool so they can live-teach with expertise and ease.

Fix It! Grammar in the Classroom
Knowing how to effectively teach grammar can be challenging. Often what is taught in popular workbook pages doesn’t translate into success in writing for our students. In this workshop Andrew Pudewa and Linda Mikottis will discuss the importance of teaching grammar with a method that results in understanding, in proper mechanics, and in the successful translation to students’ compositions. Using IEW’s Fix It! Grammar program, they’ll offer instruction in how to implement the program in a classroom setting and get the results teachers and students need.
