Sherry Grubbs

An IEW Certified Instructor, Sherry believes it is vital to help students find their voices as authors and build confidence and skill in this essential art.

Inspired by Andrew Pudewa’s sessions at a 2021 homeschool convention, she immediately found value in the Structure and Style method and began implementing it with her young children. Writing and speaking extensively in their chosen professions, her two oldest children are now college graduates, while two others attend Purdue Fort Wayne, and one is in high school. Her four grandchildren have now fallen in love with stories, much to her delight.

In 2003, she attended one of Mr. Pudewa’s live TWSS seminars to complete her teacher training. Recently, she taught IEW’s writing, grammar, and literature courses locally in a co-op setting for five years. Currently, Sherry teaches online IEW classes and tutors privately using Zoom and Google Classroom.

A unique feature built into Mrs. Grubbs’ writing classes is the popular book discussions using the Center for Lit’s Teaching the Classics. These sessions emphasize discussion and thinking skills while gently introducing literary analysis that prepares students for the TRIAC argumentative essays of IEW’s Unit 9. Including literary analysis also strategically provides an extra week for students to complete the longer writing assignments. In our last class, we play Name That Book, which is always a hit.

FALL REGISTRATION is OPEN. IEW's Wonders of Science, Following Narnia 2, and SSS 1C classes will be taught over Zoom, beginning in August. SUMMER tutoring spots are available on Mondays and Tuesdays. FALL tutoring spots are full, but there is a waiting list available. Please email mrsgrubbsteacher@gmail.com for more information about online classes or private tutoring.
