Rippy Dusseldorp Saran

Rippy is the fearless captain of Tumbleweed Writers, running classes such as How to Be a Book Dragon and How to Be a Writer. She also dotes on libraries. As her children grew up, she wondered if there was a way to continue spending her days reading the mountain of books collected during their homeschooling years. In a burst of creativity, she designed several classes to delight young people. Genuinely, she hopes to help a new generation of thinkers, readers, and writers.

Nicknaming her students 'tumbleweeds', she creates a safe and inspired space where they can play with words. If she closes her eyes, she can imagine tumbleweeds jiggling, wiggling, and possibly even giggling as they fly across empty fields. Rippy sees this thistle as a metaphor for writers who are often a bit clumsy and wild with ideas and words before finally tumbling freely and ferociously.
