Deanna Heikkinen

Deanna Heikkinen has been teaching writing as well as history, literature, and art history to homeschool students grades 2–12 for over five years. Prior to that, she was a tenured professor of humanities at Los Angeles Valley College. In addition to teaching humanities, which focused on Western civilization, she has experience teaching world history, Western civilization, Native American history, and anthropology on the college level.

Ms. Heikkinen holds a Doctorate in Education, a Master's in History, both Master's and Bachelor's in Anthropology with an archaeology focus, and a Bachelor's in Art History. With her varied experience in teaching students from elementary grades through college, Deanna brings a lot of insight, compassion, and rigor into her teaching. In addition, she uses the greatest works of literature and history from the West throughout her writing courses.

Currently, I teach through Rose Writing Center, which offers private and group IEW writing classes. If you would like to work with me, you can schedule a consultation through the RWC website or submit RWC's inquiry form here. Just request me as your child's instructor, and we will take things from there!
