Cheryl Bush
My Master's Degree is from Regent University in Community Counseling. Because I have taught various types of learners at multiple co-ops, I have increased the number of tools in my toolbox for working with children who have different learning needs. Teaching my own children, I have a special empathy for the challenges that parents can face when attempting to provide quality home instruction. Fortunately, I have an affinity for grammar, and I have always been able to write well. IEW's writing method helps me teach better. I now understand how to frame my intuitive writing ability into a picture that others can clearly view and independently emulate.
As an accredited and experienced IEW instructor, I can help take some of the stress of learning language arts out of your life. I provide instruction that is tailored to the needs of each child and their family. My rates are reasonable, and I am willing to negotiate for families in need. My husband provides for our family, so I do not do this solely for the money. I do it because I love teaching. However, I am very much involved with teaching my own children as well as teaching at co-ops. Consequently, I have limited space for private and group classes. My preferred method of contact is via text message or phone calls, as email can easily be overlooked.
HOW I WORK
!. I work well with students who have ADHD, dysgraphia, reading difficulties, or generally dislike writing. I provide more challenging assignments to advanced or gifted students.
2. I teach using the Google meet platform for live sessions, and students turn their work in using my private Google classroom.
3. I tailor source texts and learning goals to each individual student. I only use IEW texts when expressly requested by the family.
4. I REMAIN FLEXIBLE. I understand that life happens. Sometimes students cannot attend a lesson. Some families want to be extremely involved, and some do not have the time and resources for a high debris of involvement. Either way, I can work with your student.
My schedule is flexible, and I work with students outside of the Eastern Time zone.
5. My current rate is $20 per hour for a one-on-one session. Most students spend one to two hours with me per week.
