IEW Instructor

Innovative instructor, engaging presenter, student-focused! Beth Purcell is currently an online teacher of IEW’s Structure and Style themed writing method for middle school and high school students attending True North Academy, an innovative, global, accredited virtual homeschool. She has extensive knowledge of the IEW curriculum and currently teaches full school-year classes using: Wonders of Science Writing Lessons, Following Narnia Volume 2: Aslan's Country, and Advanced U.S. History-Based Writing Lessons. In the past, Beth has taught: Adventures in Writing, Ancient History-Based Writing Lessons, Modern World History-Based Writing Lessons, U.S. History-Based Writing Lessons, and various edition of FixIt Grammar. In addition to writing, Beth teaches Mystery Writing, World Literature & Composition, World History, Copywriting, PublicSpeaking, and Business Communication. Previously an instructor with the largest homeschool co-op in Greenville, South Carolina, she taught middle school writing and English Composition in-person classes, using IEW's Structure and Style B and C curriculum. A former public middle and high school English teacher, Beth loves the fool-proof writing method of IEW's method. Having much experience in various educational platforms, she is also a learning coach to middle school, high school, and higher education online students. Beth values educational choice and advocacy. She previously served as President of the National Coalition for Public School Options and as a Board Trustee for the South Carolina Public Charter School District. Beth has a BA in English from the University of South Carolina and has completed some post-graduate studies at Northwestern University, Louisiana.
