Beth OConnor
I am an EXPERIENCED Instructor with IEW. I hold an M.A. in Special Education: Deaf Education (TX, CA, SC, and AZ) and have over thirty years of teaching experience from kindergarten through the university level.
In 2016, I joined the IEW Schools Division team where I worked to support the adoption of the Structure and Style writing program in both public and Christian schools. Promoting this curriculum was especially meaningful to me as I have a strong belief in its effectiveness and the success it brings to students’ writing development. During that time, all three of my children participated in live IEW Structure and Style for Students recorded courses while I was employed at the IEW office. It was especially rewarding to watch them learn from Andrew Pudewa and to see their enjoyment of the classes grow as their writing skills steadily improved.
In my own teaching, I am passionate about helping students grow into stronger, more independent writers using the IEW approach. A large percentage of my students have dyslexia and/or dysgraphia, and I have seen firsthand how this structured, explicit method supports their success. My goal is to give each child practical strategies and the confidence to express their ideas clearly in writing, regardless of their learning differences.
