IEW Instructor

Welcome to my corner of IEW and teaching online!  I am thrilled to get the chance to work with you through my classes.  I teach because I thoroughly enjoy teaching and I work hard to convey my enthusiasm for education through a variety of activities.  

I earned a BA in Communication Studies from the University of San Francisco and a Master's in Education from Chapman University.  I frequently attend professional development classes, conferences, and seminars to continue to develop my skills in teaching everything from core subjects to technology.  Additionally, I am a Registered Instructor with the Institute for Excellence in Writing (IEW) and an Apple Teacher with teaching certification in App Development with Swift Coding.

Throughout my teaching career, I have taught elementary and middle school classes in the public school system, science and writing enrichment classes for homeschool students, English as a Second Language for adults, and English and math in adult education.  Presently, I enjoy teaching for a local community college and working with the incredible students I meet online!

With over 20 years of teaching under my belt, I have been lucky to work with a vast variety of students from all different backgrounds.  I realize that all students have different strengths and interests, so I strive to get to know my students and make learning enjoyable.  If you have a student with specific needs, please let me know before class, so I can best meet their individual needs.

On a personal note, I have many years of experience homeschooling my own children, so I understand what it means to be a "homeschool parent".  I strive to ensure your children are gaining the education I would seek for my own children.

Outside of teaching, I am an avid reader, and I love to spend time camping, hiking, sewing, and experimenting with photography.
