Recently Andrew Pudewa and Julie Walker had an opportunity to sit down with Sarah Mackenzie, busy homeschool mom, accomplished author, and creator of the podcast Read-Aloud Revival. During their time together, Andrew and Julie spoke with Sarah about her newest book, The Read-Aloud Family. Published by Zondervan and being released at the end of March, it offers some reassuring wisdom for all parents, whether homeschooling or not, about how to share books with their families. Happily, despite what many people may think, sharing books with your children need not consume a lot of your time, nor does it need to be an old, dry novel that imparts character lessons or some other deep truth. Sarah reveals some easy ways to inject more read-aloud into a busy family’s schedule as well as debunks some myths people have about reading aloud.

So check out the podcast to learn some comforting truths about the joys of reading aloud to your family. It need not be cumbersome and dull; instead it can be exciting and enjoyable! And be sure to order her new book. If you purchase it through IEW, you’ll be able to also receive some fabulous IEW bonus products as well, including “Nurturing Competent Communicators,” the talk that inspired Sarah to begin her own read-aloud journey with her family. Additionally we are including the talk, “Fairy Tales and the Moral Imagination” as well as a PDF of the Appendix of Fables, Myths, and Fairy Tales, a Level-A theme-based course.

So give it a listen! You and your family’s read-aloud adventure awaits!
