IEW Instructor

I hold FL state certifications in social sciences, middle school math, exceptional student education, and English for speakers of other languages (ESOL.) I work occasionally as a public school substitute teacher. Before becoming a teacher, I worked for 30 years in the banking industry. I earned a bachelor's degree in economics, an MBA, and a master's degree in education. I am a multi-language enthusiast. Since 2017 I have been using IEW’s books with my teenage son, who has autism with language impairments.  I have five years of experience tutoring IEW Structure and Style to several other students ages 10 through 17.  

I accept online students for private weekly tutoring (45 minutes). Interact online thru Zoom with parent supervision. I read and provide commentary and corrections on your students' compositions on my own time (asynchronously). Your students grade themselves using the provided checklists with my guidance. I will follow IEW’s 9-unit sequence. I can reteach SSS video lessons for Levels B and C, and (if you purchase all appropriate Student Books) I can customize to your child's reading level with mix-and-match including Level A. Additionally, I joyfully teach the theme-based history and Bible content. You purchase the Student Book.

New for 2025: I am seeking to form a parent study group to work on the Rhetoric text.
