My first language is Spanish yet my love for reading and writing in English from a young age was a sure sign that I preferred it. Today, I am lucky to work with students helping them communicate and understand English better. With IEW's clear and trustworthy tools, I've been strongly equipped to ensure students enjoy the reading and writing process. In 2014, I discovered IEW while visiting a small and unforgettable homeschool convention in Davie, FL. I visited their booth, asked loads of questions, and was convinced---this was exactly what I needed to help my kids grasp the joy of writing in English. I started at home using IEW SSS Level A with 2 of my kids and IEW's PAL products to teach my youngest to read and discover words. While I assisted many homeschool students in my community, it was when I finally completed my accreditation as an instructor with IEW in 2019 that I started helping other students of a larger realm. With pleasure, I continued to see the benefits of creating keyword outlines from engaging source texts, understanding grammar through dress-ups and sentence openers, and delving into each unit's purpose in my students. While I had the blessing to work with groups of students around the island with IEW methodology, I preferred working virtually on a 1-on-1 basis. Working individually with a student, I have noticed the most productive and powerful results so I only offer classes this way now. During the pandemic, I also started coaching college-bound seniors (homeschooled and traditional schooled) with their college application writing requirements, which has been a wonderful and exciting experience. Now, with two of my kids striving in college and the youngest a senior (at home), I remain collaborating with students (one at a time) and their written words. I appreciate each opportunity to help others communicate better while I continue to love and enjoy English.
