As a homeschooling mom with four kids, I’m always searching for curriculum options that will work well for all of my children. When two different families recommended IEW to me for writing, I took notice. Fortunately, we live near Cincinnati, which is one of the Great Homeschool Convention locations. Perusing the exhibitor hall, I was able to compare the IEW materials to those of several other companies. My husband and I also attended one of Andrew Pudewa’s talks at the convention that year. So began our adventure with IEW, one that has lasted from elementary school all the way to high school.
We’ll never regret choosing IEW. Andrew Pudewa may never know the influence he has had on our homeschool. Having listened to most if not all of his talks, I seriously consider each of his recommendations. When he spoke about using pens rather than pencils, we switched to pens. Granted, ours have erasers. In less than an hour, he convinced me that my kids could master dozens of poems, and with IEW’s poetry program they have. Much to my children’s chagrin, we’re working to learn Latin because Mr. Pudewa champions it as well. Clearly, Andrew Pudewa and the resources he provides through IEW play a significant role in our homeschool.
From writing to grammar to poetry, my favorite IEW resources are listed below. I also highly recommend the many talks that Andrew Pudewa has given over the years. If you ever have the chance to meet him in person, take it.
