Student Workshops (7/29)

Introductory Student Workshops are for students in grades 3–5 who are new to the IEW writing program.

Cost: Introductory Student workshops: $25.00/participant

Teachers and parents may observe at no cost.

This introductory class will present the Structure & Style Units 1 and 2: key word outlines and selected stylistic techniques. Grade levels are approximate; no previous IEW experience is presumed. Class size is limited to 25 participants.

• Grades 3–5: 8:30 AM–10:30 AM

Advanced Student Workshops are for students who have had a year or more of practice with IEW methods.

Cost: Advanced Student Workshop: $30.00/participant per class
Teachers and parents may observe at no cost.

These two-hour advanced classes for students Grades 5–10 will present the Structure & Style Units 4, 6, and 7 using key word outlining and selected stylistic techniques. Grade levels are approximate. Class size is limited to 30 participants.

• Research Writing: Grades 5–10: 11:00 AM–1:30 PM
  Units 4 and 6: choosing limited facts from multiple references; fused outlines and selected stylistic techniques
• Inventive Writing: Grades 5–10: 2:00 PM–4:30 PM
  Unit 7: outlining by retrieving info from their brains, writing detailed descriptions, and applying selected stylistic techniques
