GHC Online Classical Conference

Andrew Pudewa will be joining other classically minded speakers at the newly formed GHC Online Classical Conference this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday! Though we're all coping with unprecedented global circumstances, we are still able to connect and share with fellow travelers on their homeschooling journey.

Hear Andrew as he encourages and equips you as a home educator. For free registration go to classicalconferences.com. We hope to see you there!

Though the demand for these events has been astonishing, please note that more than one event is on the horizon. Participants that attend the live event will be given a free shipping code, good for thirty days after the event ends! If an event is already full, consider one of these other dates:

  • GHC South Carolina: The event took place Thursday–Saturday, March 19–21, 2020.
  • GHC Missouri: The event took place Thursday–Saturday, March 26–28, 2020.
  • GHC Ohio: This event took place Thursday–Saturday, April 16–18, 2020. Access talk recordings here.

GHC Ohio talks given by Andrew Pudewa:

  • "Classical Education Unhinged!" (Panel - April 16, 2020, at 1:00PM EDT)
  • "Culture, Curriculum, and Care: Building Community in a Time of Need" (April 17, 2020, at 11:30AM EDT)

What is the nature of culture? the nature of curriculum? How does one affect the other? What single element rests at the core of our success in teaching our children? How can we integrate all these as we work to build community with like-minded fellow homeschoolers, in a time when we all feel an increasing need for it? From his three decades of teaching and parenting experience, Andrew will share useful concepts and humorous stories to answer these questions and help invigorate your homeschool.

  • "Principles of Motivation" (April 17, 2020, at 5:30PM EDT)
  • "Classical Education Unhinged!" (Panel - April 17, 2020, at 7:00PM EDT)
  • "Classical Education Unhinged!" (Panel - April 18, 2020, at 1:00PM EDT)
  • "Teaching Boys and Teaching Girls" (April 18, 2020, at 4:00PM EDT)

An in-depth look at the neurophysiological differences between boys and girls—how they hear differently, see differently, handle stress and pain differently—as well as the implications for our teaching of both boys and girls, this is an expansion on Andrew’s previous “Boys” talk. With added research, together with humor and practical stories, this presentation will delight and enlighten parents of boys, girls, or both!

  • "Mysteries and Virtues in Children’s Literature" (April 18, 2020, at 5:30PM EDT)

A continuation of Andrew’s talk “Fairy Tales and the Moral Imagination,” this presentation will explore more deeply the richness of traditional children’s literature, with an emphasis on what to read aloud as well as how to guide children’s reading so that it’s not only enjoyable but also helps awaken a sense of wonder while instilling character and virtue.

Know someone who has just become an accidental homeschooler? In response to the interruption of classroom instruction, IEW has pulled together some of our best resources to provide a free, completely digital, three-week program of English language arts instruction, to allow students to continue learning while away from their classrooms. To access these resources and share them with other parents and students, visit IEW.com/free-lessons.
